Medical Receptionist

Position Summary:
The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in ensuring a positive patient experience. This position is responsible for managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and providing administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner
  • Answer and manage incoming phone calls, including scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming appointments
  • Check patients in and out, ensuring all required forms and documentation are completed accurately
  • Verify and enter patient demographics, insurance information, and medical records into the system
  • Collect co-pays, process payments, and maintain accurate billing records
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff, providers, and other healthcare offices
  • Manage patient flow and assist in coordinating schedules to minimize wait times
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Scan, file, and maintain patient records and documentation
  • Keep the front office clean, organized, and operating efficiently

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ year of medical receptionist or healthcare front desk experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and patient scheduling
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems is a plus
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry, scheduling systems)

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual abilities (depending on patient population)
  • Experience with insurance eligibility and referrals
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced medical office or clinic setting
  • High patient interaction and multitasking required
  • Standard business hours with potential for occasional extended hours
